MICHIGAN SUMMER BLUES

ABOUT OUR
BERRIES

During the summer months of July through September in Midwest Michigan, Blueberries make an appearance. The process of getting juice blueberries is one of a kind. When the blueberries are ripe on the bush, a hand picking crew or a machine harvester will go through and pick the berries off the bush. Once the berries are in the lug they are sent off to a plant to be cleaned and sorted. Juice berries consist of mainly the soft, reddish, or green berries that will not be acceptable in the fresh produce isle at the grocery store. Once the berries are sorted, Joe goes to the different plants to receive the berries. He will take these berries and package them up to send them off to the companies that are in need of juice blueberries for their wines or brews.
